Porteau Cove Provincial Park
Only minutes from Vancouver, Porteau Cove is the perfect waterfront camping destination. Many of the campsites are on the waterfront. The beach is a great place for exploring and enjoying the stunning views of Howe Sound. Fishing (outside of the Provincial Park boundary) and boating are very popular in the area. There are two paved boat launches with day parking for trailers in the park.
One of the park’s main attractions is the tidal and inter-tidal marine life of the park’s foreshore areas. There is a good diversity of marine species, both along the shore and underwater. A scuba diving area has been developed with sunken ships and artificial reefs that have greatly enhanced sub-tidal marine life.
Porteau Cove Provincial Park is open year round with limited facilities and reduced fees in the winter.
Camping
Situated on the most southerly fjord in North America, Porteau Cove Provincial Park features waterfront campsites with a view over Howe Sound to the mountains beyond. An old ship has been sunk to provide interest for Scuba divers and to attract marine life. There are special facilities for divers. Adjacent train tracks are active and occasional noise disturbance may occur.
Campsite reservations are required for all campsites in this park from March 24 to October 9. The park has 44 vehicle accessible campsites and 16 walk-in campsites
Cabins
The Olympic Legacy cabins were built by Pioneer Log Homes of Williams Lake, BC and used during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games at Simon Fraser University and the British Columbia Institute of Technology as information kiosks and a showcase of BC Parks.
Each cabin has one bedroom and a loft, a private kitchen and a bathroom. All linens will be supplied. Occupancy for the cabins has been set at a maximum of four people.
