Porteau Cove Provincial Park

Porteau Cove Provincial Park, situated on the most southerly fjord in North America, features waterfront campsites with a view over Howe Sound to the mountains beyond. With its variety of campsites, waterfront day-use area and mooring buoys for boaters, the park is a popular destination all year and nearly always full in the summer.

Diving
Porteau Cove is perhaps best known for scuba diving, with year-round amenities and amazing marine life. An old ship has been sunk to provide interest for scuba divers and to attract marine life.

Windsurfing
Strong winds in Howe Sound make for great windsurfing but conditions can change quickly. \

Swimming
There is ocean swimming off the rock and pebble beach - sneakers or beach shoes are recommended. No lifeguards are on duty in provincial parks.

Programs
The park offers interpretive programs that showcase habitat and park geography in the high season.

Boat Launch
The paved, double-wide boat launch provides easy access for motorized boats, canoes and kayaks. It may be difficult to launch at low tide or in the winter due to driftwood. Mariners should know the ocean currents.
